It's a Virgin Mary [...I think!] that was in a crevice on the way up to the tower in veranza. Time: 16 hrs. Graphite

Detail:
And the two that I liked best of my own stuff from in Italy are both lions!

This is one of the lions on the outside of the Pitti.

And this is one of the lions on the front of our "classroom".Sure looking forward to seeing everyone again in the fall, and thanks for the memories!

okay so, time for some art! First up, some work from Italy!

My first crack at" The Rape Of Polyxena"

stalker drawing! sorry Maggie, I couldn't resist.

Tone paper version of "The Rape of the Sabine"

Bacchus

Okay, now for the new stuff. I drew two pieces for my finals.

for my first, i revisited "The Rape of Poyxena" spent 18 hours here. it's 18x24

here's a detail. the helmet was one of the most difficult parts

For number two, i needed something in color

It's i picture of a friend of mine. I really liked the angle and felt i neede to work on some foreshortening. i'll be honest after 13 hours i lost count, but i don't think i went over 20. it's 20x16

here's a detail of the face.

and the hands, by far the hardest part for me.

Thanks for taking a look. any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

miss you guys.

Details of my Final

Okay... I've been working on my final for a while now, and I've picked out some of a few detail areas for show.
I decided to do a landscape shot of Vernazza. Not just because I adore that city, but it had so many cool details from the personalities of the houses, to the gorgeous combination of land and sea.
I got a giant poster and started to pencil the main spots a shadows in, like Jay taught in Italy, and it made it a lot easier to get going on the project.
I hope you enjoy it!

The Heart of Firenze

Idea for Final

I hope I get this in the right place; I've never used a blog before.

Instead of doing three separate ten hour drawings, I've decided to do a trip-tic. In the left panel will be my cousin reading a book, and her new husband doing the same in the right. The center panel will be them together.
